Baptism

WE BELIEVE

A believer’s baptism is a crucial outward act of one’s inward confession of faith and acceptance of Christ as Savior. It serves as a tangible channel marker in the lives of believers, showing that they have become a member of the body of Christ, anchoring them in their faith. It’s symbolic of Christ’s death and resurrection, and also the washing away of our sins.

Likewise, it’s a sign to the community of the decision the believer has made. While baptism is important in the life of a believer, it does not gain one’s salvation. Although many modes of baptism are used, we believe that submersion most closely mimics the actions that baptism symbolizes—the washing of sins and the beginning of new life. Christ led by example in that he, too, was baptized.

Ready to take your next step?

Twice a year, our entire church comes together to celebrate those who are taking this next step of baptism. We gather together to worship and cheer on those who are faithfully proclaiming their trust in Jesus.

Our next baptism event is Sunday, October 27th! If baptism is your next step in your relationship with God, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Adult Baptism

Prior to getting baptized, we ask that you reflect and pray about this decision and what it means to trust God with your salvation. The registration process for baptism also serves to guide you through personal reflections on the truths that baptism represents and what it means to make it a part of your story. If you have questions about baptism, reach out below!

Child Baptism

Children in kindergarten through 5th grade who are curious about baptism are invited to participate in our Why Believe class. A requirement for a child being baptized at Summit, this class happens in two parts, combining an at-home curriculum and an in-person class in the weeks leading up to each Baptism celebration. You can check out the Why Believe curriculum any time.

Infant Baptism & Dedication

As a part of our Sunday service, twice a year, we hold an Infant Baptism and Dedication Ceremony. As a church, we want to support and walk alongside you as you raise your child to know Jesus. If this is the next step for your family, please join us for the next available Infant Baptism and Dedication Parent Orientation. Once you have attended the orientation, you’ll be able to sign up for a ceremony date.

If you’ve already attended a Parent Orientation at Summit and would like to participate in Infant Baptism & Dedication with another child, you don’t need to attend an additional class. Please fill out the form below and we’ll be in touch with sign-up information.
