About Summit and Our Staff
-
Our Mission: To inspire people to find and follow the way of Jesus.
We are a non-denominational church with three in-person locations in Orlando, Lake Mary, and Riverside that meets in the Lockhart community.
Our Sunday services are a celebration of the character of God; who he is, and what he has done for us. Through music both new and old, and a message which explores where timeless truths found in the scriptures intersect with our daily lives, we hope those who attend will be inspired to find and follow the way of Jesus.
Summit Church has an average attendance of 1,400-1,500 per weekend.
This year, Summit celebrated 22 years!
Each month, we provide our kids and their families with an engaging, high-energy production that brings them together to hear the gospel told in a practical and relatable way!
Summit has a strong Group ministry. All newly formed Connect groups first go through a 10-week curriculum called Rooted before beginning their journey together.
We’re dedicated to supporting systems and relationships that serve vulnerable children in our city. Our Care Communities ministry actively supports foster families in and around Orlando.
-
We ask all of our staff to be all-in when it comes to living out the vision we believe God has given us, to actively be a part of what God is doing here, and is passionate about digging deeper into this community.

How we will work with (and for) one another…
We Trust Each Other and Assume the Best: We are committed to cultivate a culture of honesty (I will say what I mean), psychological safety (I will hear what you say), and mutual respect (we value what each other are saying). Until we reach an understanding of one another, I will assume the best of you, and you of me.
We Strive For Excellence: We desire to be at our very best knowing that excellence honors God and inspires people.
We Are Collaborators: A great team works best when it works together toward a shared purpose.
We Welcome Diversity: We have a posture of wanting to learn and understand perspectives that are different from our own. We desire to be a reflection of the city we are trying to reach.
We Are Open to Change: We keep open hands for new ideas and new opportunities to humbly serve in whatever way God has planned for us remembering it’s his church and not ours.
We Live With Integrity: We are the same people behind closed doors as we are in the open, and we allow space for others to be as well. We live this out through our personal behaviors as well as through interpersonal honesty.
We are Servants: We are a team that desires to live and love like Jesus with each other, the church, and within the community. We are willing to be interrupted, to change plans, and to receive without judgment.
-
We’re not just about the work we do; we genuinely care about the spiritual and personal well-being of our team members. We believe that a healthy, supported staff can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. Here’s a glimpse into the ways we invest in our people throughout the year:
Learning Cohorts: Summit invests in books and resources to help our team develop crucial interpersonal competencies and provides dedicated time for teams to meet during working hours.
Personal Enrichment: We provide each employee with a quarterly stipend for personal and spiritual enrichment, as well as an annual supplement for personal mental health counseling, ensuring our staff remains healthy and continues to grow in their walk with Christ.
Personal Holiness Retreat: At the beginning of the year, we spend a day away from the office to reflect on our spiritual health.
Accountability Trios: We encourage all staff to connect with 2 other staff, bi-weekly, to provide prayer and accountability around areas of personal struggle, (and we treat you to Starbucks once a quarter for a change of scenery).
Tuition Reimbursement: Staff with teaching responsibilities may apply for seminary tuition for up to 5 approved classes.
Flexibility and a Pickleball Gym: We strive to be a place where you don't have to sweat a phone call from school to pick up a sick kid, and where you can find some fun in the middle of a long day.
Shared Meals: We love to provide meals and worship together each month at All-Staff meetings, as well as our annual Christmas party.
-
Summit is a creedally orthodox church that holds to the basic tenets of faith. Summit is not affilitated with any particular denomination, yet we stand in unity with the numerous denominations that cling to the truths as articulated by the Apostles’ Creed and The Nicene Creed. We like to say around here, “There are few theological hills that we will die on.”
Our goal is to major in the majors, focusing on the central truths of faith and the mission of God that unites us in a common purpose.
