STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Jesus Falls for the First Time
John 19:1-3
Join us in a journey of reflection through The Stations of the Cross—a powerful practice that invites us to walk through the moments leading up to Jesus’ death.
We encourage you to pause for a moment and read through the following scripture and prayer.
John 19:1-3 (NLT)
1Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. 2 The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him. 3 “Hail! King of the Jews!” they mocked, as they slapped him across the face.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Your humanity was on full display as the weight of the cross became a burden. As you approached Golgotha, you fell. In this moment, you affirmed the frailty of humanity. The savior of the world let us know that he was well acquainted with hardship. We are reminded that our walk to the death of our flesh consists of falls and missteps, but yet we are encouraged to get up again. We get up again and continue because it is what we are beckoned to do. We get up again and continue because the reward justifies the journey. We get up again and continue because our King did, and in our attempt to be more like you- we fall, but we get back up again.
Amen.
The prayer today was thoughtfully crafted by our Orlando Student Minister, Johnny Outing.
Take this prayer and meditate on it throughout the rest of the day.
