STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Simon Helps Jesus Carry His Cross
Mark 15:21

Join us in a journey of reflection through The Stations of the Cross—a powerful practice that invites us to walk through the moments leading up to Jesus’ death.

We encourage you to pause for a moment and read through the following scripture and prayer.

Mark 15:21 (NLT)

21 A passerby named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was coming in from the countryside just then, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross. (Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus.)

Prayer

Lord,

I confess that I am often put out or annoyed when I am asked to carry extra burdens or when things don’t go my way. Yet here you are - carrying your own cross on the way to Calvary to rescue me, and Simon’s day doesn’t go as planned as he is forced to carry it with you. I can only imagine how much his life changed as he walked alongside of you and noticed how your path never deviated from certain death. What a gift to have spent that sacred time with you in your most painful hours and to be remembered these years later as the one who drew so close in your burden. Help me to never shy away from the sacred interruptions that forever alter my life.

Amen.

The prayer today was thoughtfully crafted by our Lake Mary Campus Pastor, O.J. Aldrich.

Take this prayer and meditate on it throughout the rest of the day.
