Global Partnerships: A Conversation with OneLamb

This marks the eighth and final installment of our global partner check-ins. We will hear from Ciru Mutura, Founder and Executive Director of OneLamb in Nairobi, Kenya.

In 2011, Ciru sensed God’s initial prompting through a CNN Freedom Project documentary about human trafficking. She did some research and learned it was occurring in her home-city, which led her to begin taking action to rescue girls facing exploitation in a local informal settlement (also referred to as a slum) in Nairobi.

Ciru emphasizes the importance of the tandem nature of sharing the gospel while freeing children from exploitation. Her ministry involves caring for young girls, some of whom remain living in their homes, while others move to a safer location in OneLamb’s HEART Home.

You may remember this story as OneLamb was the beneficiary of our annual Christmas Eve offering in 2018. (You can read more of this story here and watch previous videos here and here.)

This conversation is led by Summit Partner and global partner leader, Brandy Parker. Brandy and the Parkers have hosted Ciru in their home on multiple occasions and have visited Ciru in Kenya as well, developing a friendship along the way.

Prayer Requests from Ciru:

  • That the land purchase process goes smoothly

  • For the planning, funding, and execution of how to use the new land

  • For the girls and families in the program to continue to be cared for well and remain in community with each other

  • For the staff to be able to find time for rest and breaks to be rejuvenated as they’ve been working overtime in this season

  • Wisdom and grace to keep going
