Meet Jordan Miller: From Sea Creatures to Students

For as long as she could remember, Jordan Miller wanted to train marine animals. It wasn’t just a childhood dream—it was the dream. And she made it happen.

Jordan landed a job at SeaWorld Orlando, working with dolphins, alligators, and even orcas. It was everything she had worked for—until one day, it was gone.

A motorcycle accident put her on disability. Then, she was laid off—a common but crushing reality in the industry. Just like that, the career she had built her life around was over.

Heartbroken and unsure of what was next, she followed her husband, a lineman, to a tiny three-store town in Colorado. She didn’t know it then, but that move would eventually bring her back to Orlando as Summit’s Lake Mary Student Ministry Coordinator.

A Calling She Never Saw Coming

Colorado was quiet, a far cry from the fast-paced world she knew. But God met her there.

She started attending a church and connected with the student ministry. At first, it was just a place to belong. But then, God stirred something in her.

“I had a lot of healing to do from feeling like I was pushed out of animal care,” Jordan says. “For years, I was angry at God for taking that away. But over time, He reinvigorated another passion—serving students.”

That passion led her to Grace Community Church, where she became the Middle School Director, leading over 140 students weekly. She taught, mentored, and discipled students, helping them navigate faith and life’s big questions.

And then, another shift.

She and her family felt God calling them back to Florida. Leaving Colorado—and the students she had poured into—was one of the hardest things she’d ever done. But she trusted God had a plan.

Why Summit?

When Jordan and her family visited Summit for the first time, she wasn’t looking for a ministry job.

“I felt God leading me here before I even knew why,” she says. “That morning, the student minister was preaching. It was confirmation after confirmation of what God was asking me to do. I missed ministry. I missed students. And I knew—this is where I was meant to be.”

Now, as the Student Ministry Coordinator at Summit’s Lake Mary campus, Jordan is ready to bring her experience, energy, and heart for students into this next chapter.
