Meet Katie Evans: Walking with Adults in Their Next Right Step
When Katie Evans was in high school, she spent her days bouncing between varsity cheerleading practice, leading her school’s Bible Club, and preparing for the International Science Fair—a combination that might not make sense on paper, but in practice, it reflects something that has remained true about her: Katie thrives in diverse spaces where faith and learning intersect.
That passion has led her to serve in pastoral leadership, small groups, and discipleship programs, always with the goal of helping people take their next right step in faith. Now, as Summit’s new Adult Ministry Director, she’s bringing that same energy and heart to helping adults grow in their spiritual lives.
A Heart for Discipleship
Katie’s journey to Summit has taken her across the country—and the world. She holds a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and has served in local church leadership, campus ministry, and nonprofit work, equipping believers to deepen their relationship with God. Before coming to Summit, she was a Campus Pastor and Connections Pastor at Trinity Church in Connecticut, where she launched a multisite campus and led small group ministries.
For Katie, ministry isn’t about orchestrating perfect programs—it’s about trusting that God is already at work. “God has more invested in your ministry than even you do,” she says. “And you aren’t the savior of the world—Jesus is holding all things together, not you.” This posture of trust and intentionality is what she brings to all aspects of adult ministry here at Summit.
From Sydney to Summit
Katie’s story with Summit started long before she joined staff. She and her husband first attended Summit from 2005 to 2007, often joining friends from their campus ministry at UCF’s Wesley Foundation. (Fun fact: they also attended Vineyard Church just across the parking lot!)
After getting married in 2010, their journey took them far beyond Orlando. They moved to Connecticut, then Sydney, Australia, then Melbourne, FL, before finally settling back in Altamonte Springs in October 2023. Even while they were away, Katie kept an eye on Summit—checking in through friends, the website, and social media.
When they moved back, they knew they wanted to find a church like Summit—but they didn’t realize they’d end up right where they started. With friends from their Wesley days at both Summit campuses, reconnecting felt like coming home.
